- Show your CNIC to the shopkeeper.
- The shopkeeper will use their Ehsaas Rashan Riayat Program mobile app to confirm your number.
- Pick the groceries you want, and the shopkeeper will enter the quantity and prices into their app to calculate the discounted prices.
- After confirming, you’ll receive an SMS with a 6-digit code from 8171. Show this code to the shopkeeper, who will input it into their system.

Kiryana shopkeepers from all over the country can now register using the Ehsaas Rashan portal at https://ehsaas.punjab.gov.pk/. To register, shopkeepers need a valid bank account and a mobile SIM issued under their own ID. Those without bank accounts are being helped to open accounts at the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP).

Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, who used to be the former Chief Minister of Punjab, started the Ehsaas Rashan Program during Prime Minister Imran Khan’s time in office. This program aimed to help the needy, poor, and very poor people. Registering for the Ehsaas Rashan Program is very easy and simple so that everyone can understand. People could also register while buying groceries from the store.
Under this program, they got a discount of 40% on four important food items flour, oil, lentils, and ghee. Additionally, the subsidy for the Rashan program has started again from August 17th. Those who are poor have begun messaging Anna to receive the Rashan benefits.
17 August Ehsaas Rashan Relief
Former Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif announced on August 14 that a special discount should be given on groceries to celebrate Independence Day. This discount is now being put into action, starting from August 17. The discount applies to essential items like flour, oil, ghee, sugar, and pulses. For instance, you’ll get a discount of 648 rupees per kilogram on groceries and 353 rupees per kilogram on ghee. The discount on sugar is 100 rupees per kilogram, and for pulses, it’s 25 rupees per kilogram. These discounts are significant.
If you want to benefit from this program, you need to register. To register, you should use your ID card number, which is 8123. After registering, you’ll receive a confirmation message. To check if you’re eligible, go to the Rashan program website and enter your ID card number. They will tell you your “poverty score”, which needs to be less than 40 to qualify for the discounted groceries. There’s also a separate portal to check your poverty score.
